Athletics at Christchurch School

As a community, we aspire to lead lives of physical, psychological, and creative integrity based on the awareness of and development of individual strengths.  To this end, we are committed to developing active lifestyles, healthy minds, and creative and artistic expression through co-curricular programs that offer breadth of experience and the choice of depth.

Christchurch School's athletic program functions as an integral part of the co-curricular program. Lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, commitment, and strong effort are emphasized in our program. We are committed to collective student involvement in the program, while competing at a high level. Our ultimate goal is to help students on their Great Journey toward self-confidence, purpose, and identity.

Christchurch School is a member of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association, the Virginia Prep League, the Virginia Commonwealth Conference, the Old Dominion Football Conference, the Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association, and the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association. Teams at the Varsity and Junior Varsity level compete with other private and public schools.

Before heading off to Spring Break, we gathered as a community to honor all who participated in the winter co-curricular season. Thank you to all of our students and program leaders for a terrific winter, and special congratulations to those students honored with awards! See the full list.

CCS sailing coach Isaac Clark has been appointed president of the Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association (VISA). There are 15 VISA schools, and Christchurch is one of only a handful with its own sailing facility and boats. Coach Clark succeeds longtime, founding president, Randy Stokes. Congratulations!
