Christchurch is renowned for its Learning Skills Program, which is in its 20th year. Learning Skills is a scheduled support program for a limited number of students who have been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities or learning differences. Classes serve students in a small group setting in which they receive strategy instruction in study skills, vocabulary, note-taking, written language improvement, and test taking, all within content lessons. Objectives of the program include improving students' ability to respond to the demands of the regular college-preparatory program and helping them develop independent compensatory skills for college. Students pursue five content area courses while they are enrolled in Learning Skills, and receive an elective credit for successful completion of the class. There is an additional charge for program services. All students in the program are college-bound. The Learning Skills teachers serve as consultants to the faculty regarding students with special needs. The Director is closely involved with curriculum development through the school's curriculum committee.

Students who attend the Learning Skills Program range from student government leaders to captains of the football team, from soccer MVPs to stars in the drama production, from prefects to members of the National Honor Society.
