AND THE CLASSROOM TO THE RIVER
LEWIS B. PULLER JR. '63 SCIENCE CENTER
A modern science facility is the centerpiece of our dream to bring the river to the classroom and the classroom to the river. Our teachers are engaged in inquiry-based instruction and provide hands-on learning opportunities to our students, and we want to do more.
The new building will greatly enhance our science education in a center where waterfront activities are integrated seamlessly with classroom science. Projects will encompass research on chemical, biological, and physical aspects of our river ecosystem. Students will maintain automated water quality and weather monitoring equipment that delivers real-time data to the classroom. They will maintain aquarium and aquaculture tanks both in the classrooms and at the river. Students will have the resources, space, and equipment to develop and pursue their own research interests, and will enjoy unprecedented opportunities to explore and study the Rappahannock watershed.
