For the past fourteen years, we have run a very successful Marine Science Program. Our campers told us to change the name to Rappahannock River Adventures because "This isn't just a science camp". Not all of our camps are on the Rappahannock, but they are all fun! The director is that fun camp person that every kid wants their parent to meet.
This page will show you our camps that sleep on campus every evening. Traveling Adventures (above) will show you our programs that include one or more nights off campus.

Chesapeake Critter Camp-
Coed Boarding and Day ages 8-11 (boarding campers must be at least age 9)
2 One week sessions June 15-21 OR July 6-12(NOW FULL)

Chesapeake Critter Camp is a wonderful opportunity for a younger camper. This one-week experience is an excellent way to see what lives in and around the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay watersheds. Campers explore by foot, canoe, and by boat. In addition to catching critters, campers make aquariums, do related art projects, build a pirate ship, and explore a local marsh. This camp is an excellent opportunity for young campers to have a fun, hands-on Chesapeake Bay experience.

Wet Muddy and Alive
Coed Boarding and Day ages 12-16
One week session June 29 - July 5

An in depth, hands on look at the wetlands of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. We will explore swamps, bogs, fresh and salt water marshes. This is not a camp for the shy explorer; the adventurer will be very wet and very muddy. Explorers will walk, crawl, and swim through the most important natural resouce in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. While on our journey, we will learn the important functions of wetlands and leave with a better understanding about why they need to be protected.

Fishing Camp
1 to 4 Weeks, Ages 9-14 (see note)
Coed Boarding and Day
Weeks of June 15 to July 12, 2008

In partnership with Virginia Fishing Adventures, learn the basics of fresh and salt water fishing while exploring some of Virginia's most prolific and historic waters. This camp includes fishing for bass, blue gill, spot, croaker, flounder and flathead. See fisheries and professional biologists at work! In fact the director loves fishing so much that he named his son Fisher!
While we cannot legally guarantee you will catch fish, we can share with you some quotes from last summer: "Best Fishing Ever," "I caught the biggest fish," and "That was Awesome!". But mostly, you'll catch a lot of fish.
This is a fun week and proper fishing gear is supplied (but you may bring your own).
Fishing Camp has a different pricing structure $850 for boarding and $650 for day campers.
NOTE: Fishing Camp is designed for younger campers, we regularly accept older campers that want to fish as long as they understand that the majority of the campers will be younger.
