Each department at Christchurch builds its courses to connect with other disciplines and the wider curriculum, while identifying the core skills and content students must master. The result is learning that is rigorous, relevant, and grounded in relationships.
From Mathematics and Science to the Humanities, World Languages, and the arts, our departments and electives give students room to go deep and follow their curiosity. Many courses are offered at the Honors and Dual Enrollment level, an opportunity to experience college-level work and earn college credit through Virginia Wesleyan University.
Honors Project
Room to pursue an idea of your own.
The Honors Project is a signature capstone for students who have shown real interest in a topic and the drive to explore it well beyond the walls of a classroom. It is one of the clearest ways Christchurch lives out its mission to empower and educate engaged global citizens.
Over four years at Christchurch, students gain real-world experience and the skills to navigate it. They learn to connect what they study with what they see beyond the white fences, to understand their place and responsibilities, and to use their own curiosity as a tool. The Honors Project gives them the time, flexibility, and guidance to turn that into something real: a project rooted in their own interests and a genuine connection to people and place.
The most ambitious learning happens when a student stops waiting for an assignment and starts pursuing a question of their own.

While a student could pursue a project on their own time, the Honors Project provides the framework, guidance, and consistency to achieve something with real impact. Students manage their time, collaborate with partners and stakeholders, meet clear expectations, seek out feedback, and follow through.
