Honors & Dual Enrollment

Two paths to college-level work.

Motivated students can take their learning further through two routes: faculty-designed honors courses and dual enrollment courses that carry real college credit. Both ask students to think critically and to engage deeply and meaningfully with a discipline.

Honors Courses

Depth, designed in-house

20+college-level honors courses,
designed by Christchurch faculty

Honors courses give motivated students room to explore a subject more fully, with critical thinking and depth of content at the center. Students engage a discipline thoroughly and meaningfully rather than simply moving through it.

On a transcript, these courses signal to selective colleges that a student has challenged themselves, much as Advanced Placement courses do at other high schools.

Christchurch does not offer AP courses. Our honors program is built to serve the same purpose, on our own terms.

Dual Enrollment

Real credit, before graduation

BUin partnership with Batten University
(formerly Virginia Wesleyan University)

Through a partnership with Batten University (formerly Virginia Wesleyan University), a fully accredited four-year institution, students take college-level courses that carry actual college credit. They earn a Batten transcript and credit hours that transfer to many colleges and universities across the country.

Every dual enrollment course is taught by a Christchurch teacher who serves as Batten adjunct faculty with an advanced degree, and each fits within the school's overall philosophy and program.
