Where Students Find Their Voice

A critical part of setting your own course is learning how to express yourself. In visual art, theatre, and music, Christchurch students find that voice and learn to share it with the world.

The Arts as Self-Expression

Christchurch's fine and performing arts program treats creativity as a form of self-expression, fueling a passion for artistic integrity, a broader view of world culture, and a stronger connection to a sense of place. And the voice students build here does not stay in the studio. It carries into a college classroom, a job interview, a boardroom, anywhere they are asked to share an idea and be heard.

Signature Traditions

Moments You'll Only See Here

Music as Memory

Music students visit a local memory-care community and build personalized playlists from each patient's youth, watching songs reach people that words no longer can.

An Original Musical, Start to Finish

Every year, students write the script, choose the music, choreograph, build the sets, design costumes, and run lights and sound for an entirely original show.

Shakespeare in Many Languages

Theatre students perform the Bard in English, Chinese, Spanish, and more, for audiences who feel every bit of the emotion.

A Sound Heard Only Here

The chapel choir, the Cantorion ensemble, and student bands with Turkish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and American members.

Art has helped me become a more confident person. I've learned to embrace my mistakes and make them into something new. It's a passion that's allowed me to embrace each part of myself.
Sydney Pitts, Class of 2017

Three Ways to Create
