A Place to Share Your Perspective
Through theatre, music, and student-led productions, the performing arts give students a powerful creative outlet and a place to share a perspective that is theirs alone. Each year, theatre students bring their diverse backgrounds to the stage, performing Shakespeare in languages from the Bard's own English to Chinese to Spanish, for audiences who may not catch every word but feel every bit of the emotion.
A Christchurch Original
A Show Made Entirely by Students
Each year, the school stages an original production written and performed entirely by students. They develop the theme, write the script, choose the music, and choreograph the movement. Then they build the sets, design the costumes, run the lighting and sound, and help direct. From the first idea to opening night, the show belongs to them.

A Place for Every Storyteller
A production takes more than its cast. Students find a place whether they want the spotlight or the work that makes the spotlight possible.

In The Art of Acting, students study voice, dialects, movement, and stage combat, then perform monologues, scenes, and full staged productions.

Each year students perform the Bard in the languages they speak, for audiences who feel every bit of the emotion.

Students build and design sets, create costumes, and run sound and lighting for every production.
Write & Direct
From scriptwriting to directing, students shape the story. Theatre Arts traces theatre from Greek tragedy to Beijing opera while building real craft.
