National Championship Sailing Team in action

Championship Sailing
on Home Water

Christchurch is one of the premier scholastic sailing programs in the country, and the Rappahannock River is our home water. The team launches from the Clyde V. Kelly IV Sailing Pavilion directly onto the river, just twelve miles from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and trains aboard the largest school fleet on the East Coast. From first-time sailors to national champions, every Seahorse finds room to grow, compete, and discover what they are capable of on the water.

Sailing at Christchurch is built for every level. Newcomers start with the fundamentals through our learn-to-sail program, while experienced racers train and compete in both fleet racing and team racing against the strongest schools in the region and the country. The team is on the water nearly every day of the fall and spring seasons, and the skills students build there, reading the wind, making fast decisions, and trusting a teammate completely, carry well beyond the boat.

Our team keeps a dedicated sailing site with everything that moves week to week: schedules, rosters, regatta results, recruiting, and resources for current and prospective sailors. If you want to go deeper than this page, that is where to find it.
