A MESSAGE FROM BILLY COYLE

Dear Christchurch Family,
 
It is a great honor to be named as the new Head of School at Christchurch. I am grateful and humbled for the opportunity to lead this great school in the years to come. Through our visits, and dozens of conversations, Mary and I have come to understand how powerful the experience of Christchurch School is and how the mission is lived out every day on this beautiful campus.
 
As I have come to know Christchurch better, it is clear that the faculty and staff of Christchurch are passionate about the work of the school, about developing trusting and long-lasting relationships with students, and supporting them in becoming “compassionate, successful and engaged global citizens.” I am excited  to continue to bring that mission to life, to continue the school’s success and growth, and ensure the sustainability of Christchurch long into the future. 
 
Thank you to Board of Governors, the Faculty and Staff, and the Students and Families, for warmly welcoming me and Mary. We are excited to get to know all of you by name and start to develop those personal connections. We look forward to getting to know the loyal and faithful alumni who hold Christchurch dear; to getting to know our families; and to being a part of the community of Christchurch as we launch the school’s Second Century—one that is full of promise and possibility. I also offer a very special “thank you” to JEB and Lexi for their roles in shaping this exceptional institution. Their legacy will last forever. I am dedicated to carrying forward the traditions and foundations they have built for the school. 
 
As we began the transition from the oceanside in Florida to the riverside in Virginia, I worked closely with the board, the administrative team, and the faculty to understand all the qualities that make Christchurch unique among schools, to understand the challenges, and to become an effective leader and partner in imagining a great future and making it happen. We are excited to Set our Course at the River.

Billy Coyle

William J. “Billy” Coyle was the Director of Finance and Operations at Palm Beach Day Academy in Florida for more than a decade. He was part of the leadership team during a period of growth in enrollment and charitable giving while overseeing significant departments of the school. His previous experience at boarding school was at the Forman School and at the Taft School, giving him a broad perspective on the boarding school world. Billy has coached youth football, basketball, and softball; football at the high school level, and was a college quarterback. Before entering the Independent School world, Billy spent nine years in private business finance, accounting, and management. Billy and his wife, Mary, have two grown children, Amanda and Ryan.
A private, co-ed, college-prep boarding school/day school one hour east of Richmond and three hours south of the NoVA/DC area.
