Tuition Assistance

Christchurch School is committed to addressing the financial need of its students and maintains a $2.5 million aid budget for this purpose. Families in need of tuition assistance are encouraged to apply as soon as possible for this finite resource.

Administration of tuition assistance is based on the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Principles of Good Practice.

Custodial parents and non-custodial parents should each submit a separate Parents’ Financial Statement (when appropriate). This helps to inform the Tuition Assistance Review Committee as to the level of financial need for each household, based on individual financial responsibilities.

Here is a helpful overview of the process.

1.  Complete the  Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) (our school reporting code is 2422) through School and Student Services by NAIS.
2.  Upload a copy of your most recently filed Federal Income Tax Return (with all supporting schedules and W2) directly to SSS (via PDF files).  Information provided by SSS and your Federal Income Tax Return are reviewed to determine financial aid eligibility.  Note that all information is held in strict confidence.
3.  The school will contact you directly to inform you of financial aid granted.  For new families, this will most often occur at the same time of an admission decision being provided. Tuition assistance grants are guided by the information provided by your Parents Financial Statement AND your tax returns.  SSS generates a Report of Family Contribution (RFC) from the information provided in the Parents Financial Statement (PFS)  This report includes an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) dollar amount.  Demonstrated financial need is calculated by subtracting the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), from tuition, room and board; then the school is able to determine a financial aid award calculated as a percentage of demonstrated need.

January and February - New and returning families requesting tuition assistance should complete the PFS and submit tax returns to SSS.

All families requesting tuition assistance should complete a Parents Financial Statement and submit tax returns to SSS each year in order to be considered for financial aid. Tuition assistance grants will be reflected on the July Tuition Statement, as long as the 2019 tax return has been uploaded to SSS by that time.  Otherwise any tuition assistance will be reflected only after receipt of those tax returns (by SSS).

Timeliness in submitting requests for tuition assistance is essential.
