Athletics and More

As a top private college-prep high school, Christchurch School is dedicated to helping our students achieve their fullest potential in every aspect of their lives. This extends to our athletics program, which includes varsity boys and girls teams, as well as a junior-varsity boys team.

Alumni who have gone on to greater success on the court include 2014 Virginia Prep League Player of the Year and NBA player Devin Robinson, as well as 2006 alum John “Jet” Williams, who was a member of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Why Athletics Matter to Us

At Christchurch School, we see sports as more than just an intramural activity — it’s a crucial component of our mission and community. Every student here has an opportunity to play, whether they aspire to become college athletes or just want to have fun. We understand that athletic competition helps young people learn the values of hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, and teamwork. We want to give basketball players the opportunity to learn lessons that will stick with them long after they leave the court.

Our coaches also are teachers and dorm parents, meaning they know the players on their team as whole people, not just by their position on the depth chart. This means they know what it takes to motivate each student to be the best person he or she can be.

We’re also dedicated to helping our student body achieve the highest standards of physical fitness. We know how important it is to be physically and mentally fit. With the guidance of our staff and the tight-knit nature of our campus, students learn how to live a healthier lifestyle and build confidence that will serve them later in life.

Why Choose Christchurch School?

When looking for a boarding school with a basketball program, there are few options that can match Christchurch School. Our diverse population of students in grades 9-12 enjoy a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Nearly 70% of our faculty live on-campus, ensuring that learners get the attention to meet all their needs.

We are located on 125 beautiful acres of waterfront property along the Rappahannock River in Virginia. Our campus is one hour east of Richmond VA and two and a half hours south of the Washington DC area.
