Football

    • Fall 2022

If you’re looking for a boarding school with a proven track record of success on and off the football field, look no further than Christchurch School. As a top private college-prep high school, our football program is woven into the fabric of our campus community. We teach our students what they need to be leaders in every aspect of their lives, and our football team exemplifies that devotion.

Under longtime, VISAA Hall of Fame coach Ed Homer (1992-present), we have won Virginia Division II state championships in 2011 and 2017. Numerous alumni have earned scholarships from major college programs, including Notre Dame, UVA, VA Tech, Penn State, Wake Forest, and Boston College. Above all else, however, we stand apart from other private school football programs because we integrate athletics into our overall mission of helping students become the leaders of the future. Our football alumni are medical doctors, college coaches and administrators, attorneys, military leaders, successful businessmen, and dedicated husbands and fathers.

How Athletics Fit Into Our Mission

We believe that a private high school football program should be an integral part of the campus community. Not only should it be a source of school pride, but also an avenue for young people to learn valuable lessons they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. By participating in sports, our students are taught to value hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

What’s more, our coaching staff upholds the highest standards in everything they do. That’s because they are also faculty members who live on campus and serve as dorm parents, in addition to their other duties. This way, our coaches get know students as individuals, so they see them as more than just names on a roster sheet. It’s this tight-knit sense of community that helps our football players develop skills that go beyond mere athleticism and impact their lives — on and off the field.

We also believe that physical fitness is a crucial element in a student’s ongoing success in life. That’s why we support our athletes with a comprehensive strength training program. This provides young people with a foundation for a healthier lifestyle and give them confidence that they can carry into the future. We encourage and motivate our student body to live up to their full potential in all aspects of their lives.

The Christchurch Difference

If you are seeking a boarding school with a football program that can bring out the best in its students with a challenging curriculum, Christchurch School should be your top choice. We bring together a diverse group of youth in grades 9-12 on our picturesque campus along the Rappahannock River in Virginia.

Here, you’ll find 125 acres of pristine beauty just an hour east of Richmond and two and a half hours south of Washington, D.C. The 6:1 student-to-faculty ratio means no one’s needs are left to slip through the cracks, resulting in a close, supportive community where all feel at home.

If you would like to learn more about us, we can arrange for a virtual open house to give you a feel for what it’s like at Christchurch School. Reach out to us today to schedule your visit.
