• JUDICIAL COUNCIL

  Members of the Judicial Council act as student representatives on the Committee. The JC hears cases of serious violations of the School’s Core Values— infractions that could lead to suspension or even separation from school. As such, JC student members must be committed to the Core Values of the school and must be willing to fulfill the role of JC member with courage and integrity. Confidentiality in the JC process is paramount, as is listening carefully and openly to cases in order to understand various facets of a situation. The School is committed to balancing the needs of the community with the restorative possibilities in each case, and student members should be comfortable with this tension in their deliberations. The time commitment to the JC will vary, but should not be extensive. It is entirely possible to serve on this committee and not have it interfere with other commitments. Students from all grades are eligible to be a part of the Judicial Council. The Office of Community Life will choose students for the JC in the fall each year. 

• NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

• NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY PRESIDENT

  Members of our NHS chapter elect the NHS President each fall; candidates must be a current member in their junior or senior year and be in good standing within CCS’s NHS chapter. This individual should uphold and model our core values, and should be self- motivated, organized, and willing to delegate. The NHS President is responsible for chairing all meetings, speaking at NHS ceremonies, working directly with the NHS advisor, and organizing all NHS activities (e.g. fundraisers and service). 

• PREFECTS

  Prefects are community leaders who lead the student body by example and serve the school by actively participating in various areas of school life. As role models for the entire student body, it is essential that prefects are of good moral character and support the core values, policies, rules, and procedures of Christchurch School. 
  
  

• STUDENT AMBASSADOR CHAIR POSITIONS

  The Student Ambassador Chairs will work with the Admission Office to help create a dynamic program for prospective students.

• UNITY COUNCIL

  Students from across all grades will work with the Director of Community Culture & Relations and faculty sponsors to brainstorm, publicize, and help with events that recognize and bring awareness to cultures that represent both our community and that of the outside world. This council will also help with the prep work before events and will be a positive and forward-moving voice. This council will help lead our community in thoughtful, constructive and respectful activities, discussions, and initiatives that encourage a move towards a greater sense of inclusivity and acceptance within our community. In this role, this group will work very closely with the Director of Community Culture & Relations. This council will host meetings open to the entire community to encourage greater thought and participation and will present/share the ideas gathered in these meetings to the Student Council and the entire CCS community. 

  
  The students selected for one of the ten council positions will be responsible for helping to plan smaller events such as open forums and larger events such as celebrations for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Culture Fair, Chinese New Year, and various cultural awareness activities. The students chosen for this council will understand the need to be active listeners who can engage in courageous conversations and lead events regarding opportunities that accompany differences in race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, gender identity, and socioeconomic status. They should be open to new ideas and experiences, even if those shared by their peers are not that of their own. 

• UNITY COUNCIL HEADS

  These students will be responsible for engaging the community in thoughtful, constructive and respectful activities, discussions and initiatives that encourage a move towards a greater sense of unity within our community. Students in this role will work very closely with the Director of Community Culture and Relations. The Unity Council will host meetings open to the entire community to encourage greater thought and participation and will present/share the ideas gathered in these meetings to the entire CCS community. The students selected for this position will be responsible for helping to plan smaller events such as open forums and larger events such as celebrations for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day or the Chinese New Year or various cultural awareness weeks/months. He/she should have great organizational and communication skills, be a good listener, and be open to new ideas and experiences, even if those shared by his/her peers are not that of his/her own.
