ENDOWMENT GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
For donors who wish to make a gift to one of the school’s existing endowments, we have listed information about each one below. And remember, with a minimum gift of $25,000, you can establish your own new permanent endowment in honor or memory of a loved one,
family member, teacher, coach, or others.
General Need-Based Endowed Scholarships
Nelson Cole Scholarship, Est. 2021
• Criteria: Provide financial assistance to students who qualify for financial aid in order to attend CCS. Qualified students should demonstrate effort in academics and involvement in sailing, or other co-curricular activities and represent CCS core values.
William Harrison Green '13 Scholarship, Est. 2021
• Criteria: General scholarship for a student with demonstrated financial need.
Worth Higgins ’54 Scholarship, Est. 2003
• Criteria: Returning boarding student (usually a rising senior) with demonstrated financial need; the recipient will receive this scholarship through graduation.
Lawrence G. Lewis ’36 Scholarship, Est. 1991
• Criteria: Rising 10th grade male boarder with demonstrated financial need; recipient will receive this scholarship through graduation.
Thomas G. McMillan '59 Scholarship, Est. 1999
• Criteria: 9th or 10th grader with demonstrated financial need; the recipient will receive this scholarship through graduation.
McGuire's Foundation Scholarship, Est. 1992
• Criteria: 12th grade male; is a leader with integrity and courage; and has a demonstrated financial need.
Mason New ’58 Scholarship, Est. 1997
• Criteria: Senior boarding student.
George W. ’49 & Carol Y. St. Clair Scholarship, Est. 1999
• Criteria: Evokes the Seahorse spirit of leadership, integrity, and civility; and has a demonstrated financial need.
Hunter M. Stratton '96 Scholarship, Est. 2018
• Criteria: Shows academic effort, out of the box thinking, and tries new things; is involved in athletics/co-curriculars; represents the CCS core values; and has a demonstrated financial need.
Robert M. Yarbrough Jr. Scholarship, Est. 2013
• Criteria: General scholarship for a student with demonstrated financial need.
Robert M. Yarbrough Jr. Leadership Scholarship, Est. 1992
• Criteria: Shows effort in academics and involvement with co-curriculars and athletics; represents the CCS core values; and has a demonstrated financial need.
The Williams-Hetzer Scholarship Endowment for Academic Excellence, Est. 2021
• Criteria: Already established a positive record of achievement and growth at his/her previous school and set a standard for their future success with a demonstrated financial need who would not otherwise be able to attend Christchurch School. Available to a single student or multiple students, both day and boarding.

Robert D. Fox ’58 Baseball Scholarship, Est. 2011
• Criteria: Baseball player with demonstrated financial need
Thomas H. Maeder ’61 Scholarship, Est. 2013
• Criteria: Shows academic effort; involved in co-curriculars and athletics; represents CCS core values; and has a demonstrated financial need.
Jamie Riley ’05 Scholarship, Est. 2009
• Criteria: Returning football player (usually rising senior) with a demonstrated financial need who is selected by the football coach.
John H. Stone ’86 Memorial Scholarship, Est. 1991
• Criteria: Returning student athlete who is a leader with demonstrated financial need.
David & Laura Thayer Eric Liddell Scholarship, Est. 2022
• Criteria: For a student athlete, with both a demonstrated financial need and an active interest in the Christian faith, who exemplifies the values of integrity, humility, and selfless service.
Need-Based Scholarships for Students Interested in the Arts & History
Michael Tebbs Nunn ’86 Fine Arts Scholarship, Est. 1990
• Criteria: Rising 12th grader showing excellence in fine arts with a demonstrated financial need.
John Rector ’80 Scholarship, Est. 2002
• Criteria: Virginia resident with an interest in history and has a demonstrated financial need.
Merit-Based Scholarships
Ed ’49 and Mary Trotter Scholarship, Est. 2006
• Criteria: Rising 12th grader who has attended CCS at least one year and intends to pursue a vocation of Christian ministry.
Tatum-Little Sailing Scholarship, Est. 2018
• Criteria: A returning student who is a scholastic high achiever, maintains a minimum 3.0 GPA, and must be a positive influence on teammates and helpful to sailing coaches.
Other Endowments
Campus Stewardship Endowment, Est. 1982
• Purpose: Buildings, Grounds, Maintenance, & Landscaping
Clark Waterfront Endowment, Est. 2009
• Purpose: Care for, stewardship of, and improvements for the Waterfront
Learning Skills Program Endowment, Est. 2021
• Purpose: Established in honor of Gracejean Henniger, the founder of LSP, funds generated will support the program and its learning specialists.
Puller Science Center Endowment, Est. 2009
• Purpose: Care for and stewardship of the Lewis B. Puller Jr. ’63 Marine and Environmental Science Center
Dr. Henry S. Spencer Endowment, Est. 2007
• Purpose: Unrestricted General Endowment.
Waterfront Forever Endowment, Est. 2021
• Purpose: Preservation and enhancement of existing and future structures and equipment at the waterfront.
