Sports are an integral part of the Christchurch experience. Every student has an opportunity to play, from aspiring college athletes to those who just want to hit the field for fun.
On average, students play two competitive sports per year. Competing at a high level teaches students sportsmanship, teamwork, and the value of hard work and perseverance - life lessons that last long after the finals seconds tick off the game clock.
Christchurch's close-knit community gives student ahtletes in every sport a competitive advantage. At Christchurch, many coaches are also teachers who are also dorm parents. Coaches who know their players in the classroom, in the dining hall, and at home in the dorm are better equipped to coach the whole person, not just the quarterback or the lacrosse star, and are in the best possible position to bring out the best in every player.
Over the past decade, Christchurch has fielded state championship teams in football, basketball, and lacrosse, with both soccer and volleyball regularly advancing to the state playoffs. The school's coaches and college counselors offer sound guidance and networking with connections at colleges and universities for Christchurch athletes considering offers to play at the college level.
