Athletics and More

Soccer

Christchurch School is a private, co-ed boarding school and day school, set on the beautiful Rappahannock River in Virginia. Our soccer program for boys and girls not only compete at a high level, but also learn life lessons that last long after their time in the field.

Our well-established programs give players the perfect opportunity to grow athletic skills, learn teamwork, and develop hard work and perseverance. Our teams also have strong track records: The girls team finished the 2021 regular season ranked third in the state and made it to the state quarterfinals before losing a thriller by penalty kicks in overtime.

Because we believe a great education is about more than academics, we take a whole-person approach to coaching and seek to bring the best in every player. Whether a student simply enjoys the game or is looking to go on to college sports, there’s a place to play at Christchurch School.

The Competitive Advantage of a Close-Knit Community

Athletics are a big part of the Christchurch School experience — a way to develop talents, pursue activities that may be outside one’s comfort zone, and become more well-rounded as a person. With that in mind, living and learning together in the environment of boarding school creates a tight-knit community that can be a competitive advantage in the game.

Our coaches are also teachers and dorm parents. This means the people guiding students on the field are the same ones who know them in the classroom, at the dining hall, and at home in the dorm. This allows a more comprehensive coaching experience, where players receive sound guidance on and off the field.

To help our athletes develop a healthy lifestyle and a sense of confidence even beyond the game, we also have a strength and fitness program in which we give soccer players a comprehensive weight training program. This helps them learn proper recovery habits, the importance of stretching, injury prevention, nutrition, and more.

Why Choose Christchurch School?

Located one hour east of Richmond, near the cities of Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, and Fredericksburg, Christchurch School combines one hundred years of tradition with a rich community and an innovative approach to learning. Soccer players at our school undergo a challenging college preparatory curriculum, which has led to 100% of graduates being admitted to four-year colleges and universities, as well as 90% getting accepted to schools on Princeton Review’s Top School list.

We’re proud to have a diverse student body, representing fifteen states and fourteen countries worldwide. From our picturesque location on the Rappahannock River in Virginia, we provide an exceptional education for the whole person.
